Lancaster Community Choice Power Supply Program
As part of the Lancaster Community Choice Power Supply Program, the Town has selected Constellation Energy Group as its competitive power supplier for the Town’s electricity consumers. The new Lancaster residential fixed-price competitive rate is $.0718/kWh which is guaranteed to be lower than National Grid's Basic Service rate through April 2013. The program begins at the December meter reading for all consumers.
The Lancaster Community Choice Power Supply Program is a Municipal Aggregation. It gives the Town of Lancaster choice and control over the source of their electricity and stabilizes electricity bills in the future by using the bulk buying power of all of its ratepayers.
Colonial Power Group worked with the Massachusetts Division of Energy Resources (DOER) and the Department of Public Utilities (DPU) to create a plan that is beneficial to ALL customer classes.
The purpose of Community Choice Power Supply Programs is to represent consumer interests in competitive markets for electricity. It seeks to aggregate consumers in cities and towns to negotiate the best rates for the supply of electricity and to advance consumer protection for the residents and businesses of the community. Any individual has the opportunity to opt-out of the Program at any time and choose any electric supplier they wish.
How to Opt-Out
Opting out of the Community Choice Power Supply Program is easy.
When the Program is initially started, you may fill out the online Opt-Out Form or simply sign and return the postage paid reply card that you receive in the mailing from your local government that describes the program.
At any time after this initial opt-out notice, if you want to be placed on National Grid’s Basic Service, you may call Constellation Energy Group at 1-866-622-6569 and ask to cancel your account with no penalty charge.
Newly eligible consumers (for example, those who have moved into the community recently) will be notified by direct mail after turning on electric service with their local distributor. The mailing will detail all aspects of the Program and will contain instructions for opting out of the Community Choice Power Supply Program, should you choose to do so.
If you have any questions please call CPG at (508) 485-5858.
